lveifer:

He’d never say his parents raised him better (after all, his father had tossed him into the deepest pit when he said no thanks, I’m not going to bow down to fucking dirt), but - well, he could proudly say he’d never done a spit take in front of a charming woman. Scratch that. He’d never done a spit take at all. Yet the drink was hardly in his mouth before she proudly brandished his own name as her own. Lucifer Morningstar, proudly having never done anything less than seductive in front of a woman, miraculously turned his head away and spit out a damn waste of a good drink.

This is all a ploy, he tried to reason in his head, just another wannabe club owner. Maybe she thought Lucifer was unisex? But her accent wasn’t shit. But she walked like she owned the place. But she most certainly didn’t look like she was lying. Butbutbut – he’d just been across town in the twenty-third story of the highest rated hotel in Los Angeles with a witch who just pushed him through a portal.

He ended up at LUX. It was just the wrong one.

     Bloody fucking witches.

                                      A pleasure, indeed?

Finally, weakly, he planted his fist on his chest and coughed. He cleared his throat, once, twice, and croaked out, “ This is awkward. Ahem. Lucifer Morningstar.

He waved an airy hand to encompass himself, “ Lucifer Morningstar.

she watched him react to her introduction carefully — eagerness leading to brief ( very, very brief ) disgust leading to confusion that seemed to last forever. even with the turn of his head she managed to catch a glimpse of him in partial profile, spitting out a perfectly good drink in a move that looked even more uncharacteristic than the bluntness.

underneath the confusion was, or so she felt, very well concealed embarrassment. just her luck. she finally managed to meet someone interesting in this damned city besides chloe fucking decker and she scares them off with her NAME, of all things. stupid dad. stupid bullshit ‘unisex’ angel names. stupid humans with their constant misgendering.

being blamed for their own mistakes was bad enough, but the constant reminder that she wasn’t the daughter, or rather, son, that he always wanted was more than she could take sometimes.

before she could wallow any longer in her little angst fest he finally spoke up again, putting an end to it as he revealed the real reason for his reaction. oh. oh. that — shouldn’t have been possible. couldn’t be true. shouldn’t. couldn’t. shouldn’t.  — actually made sense, now that she thought about it. the confidence. his familiarity with lux despite her not recognizing him at all. the easy back and forth banter that they’d managed to get going despite her being…well…her.

she had to admit. she made a HOT guy. and the possibilities…

you know…the last time i met a man claiming to be me, his accent was just —she shuddered— atrocious. this is…well, like i said before, it’s a pleasure! i mean it’s fascinating, really. even as the son dad always wanted i still wasn’t the son he always wanted.

we should disappoint him even more.
